MaKing Things factory’s logo

MaKing Things factory (the factory) emerged from a secret desire to live a homemade life. I have harbored a dream to make my own — or have friends and family make — utilitarian items for my home: from dishes to clothing to pieces of furniture — and even art — for decades: the factory is the first small step in that direction.

My journey with pottery is — like everything in life — evolutionary and experimental: I practice infusing humanity into my work, and nothing is perfect — everything has a perfectly imperfect human thumbprint on it. Even my slip castings aren’t perfect reproductions — I try to infuse a human nuance into every piece and nothing is ever a carbon copy — no two pieces are ever the same. I personally find beauty in the human experience and I celebrate the nuances, diversity, and flaws of humanity. My ceramic journey will continue and evolve along with my growth as a human being as I allow my experiences to inform my art.

The factory includes family members’ artworks as well: my mother-in-law is an amazing watercolor artist, my husband is an incredible digital artist. Their pieces will be included for sale in both my live sales and website, and as the factory evolves, others will be included in the evolution. The vision of the factory is intended to be a community, and we are starting that community with family.
