MaKing Things factory acknowledges that the Southern Salish Sea region lies on the unceded and ancestral land of the Coast Salish peoples, the Duwamish, Muckleshoot, Puyallup, Skykomish, Snoqualmie, Snohomish, Suquamish and Tulalip tribes and other tribes of the Puget Sound Salish people. We recognize that our making space is in the traditional heartland of the Lake People and the River People. We honor with gratitude the land itself, as well as the First People – who have reserved treaty rights and continue to live here since time immemorial – and their ancestral heritage and traditions.
I love to make things: creating is a joyous process for me. It can be frustrating as hell, but it ultimately brings joy. My ultimate goal is to share that joy with others. I strive to create something that sparks a feeling when you see it.
I have been exploring with clay for about a decade now, but I feel that my “voice” is ever evolving. I don’t want to be boxed in: I am not sure about being a “brand.” I don’t want to be tied to any one thing whether it is a style or “signature” flourish. While I do have pieces I repeat, I want to move freely from idea to idea. I want to remain open to possibilities instead of limitations. I strive to retain the childlike exuberance of working something out and it actually works! That is the joy I want to share with you: that is the example I want to be for the world.
Thank you for visiting my small corner of the world. Please feel free to email me (or sign up for my newsletter with the understanding that it isn’t a regularly scheduled thing: only when I have some news or possibly a new “drop”).
